A researcher has created a system that uses cheap cameras and video game technology to help automated cars navigate getting rid of the expensive laser-based systems used today.

A new software system developed at the University of Michigan uses video game technology to help solve one of the most daunting hurdles facing self driving and automated cars - the high cost of the laser scanners they use to determine their location.

At least two planets that could be bigger than Earth might have been hiding at the edge of our solar system, scientists have claimed.
The undiscovered planets are thought to be even further from the Sun than Neptune and the dwarf planet Pluto.
Evidence of the two planets comes from watching a belt of space rocks known as “extreme trans-Neptunion objects”.

Indian Science Congress showcases robot with multiple cameras to defuse bombsIn an innovative invention, the Indian Army has built robots with multiple cameras which are being used by them to defuse bombs. Named as Daksh, the robot can carry 20 kgs of weight, climb stairs and even steep slopes. It can even take x-ray images. The Army has been successful in using 20 of these machines to defuse bombs in remote areas so far.

A hollow tree that may have housed bats with ebolaIn the small village of Meliandou, in Guinea, stood a tall, hollowed-out tree where children loved to play. But thousands of bats lived in the tree, and one toddler — a 2-year-old named Emile Ouamouno — may have contracted Ebola from playing there.
Emile, who died in December 2013, was "patient zero," or the first person known to have contracted Ebola in the current outbreak that has now claimed at least 7,600 lives in the region. In a new study, researchers looking for the source of the outbreak found that free-tailed bats (Mops condylurus) lived in the tree. These bats are likely a reservoir of the disease, the researchers concluded.
